Every city has bad spots. Some have more property crime due to the poor economy and others have more violent crimes. Stats show that Detroit is #3 on the most dangerous list, but that may be Detroit proper only and not surrounding areas. I know someone who moved to North Carolina and returned to Detroit because they preferred the neighborhood property value separation there (all like property values in same areas whereas in North Carolina it is not unusual to see a 50,000 home or even a trailer next to a 250,000 home in many areas)
