Detroit is not Michigan in general (and honestly the city isn't that bad), and Plymouth is really close to some nice areas like Canton, or Northville and Novi (a bit further North). I wouldn't let that be a deciding factor for you - it's really not an issue.

There ya go. Detroit has a much worse reputation than it deserves.

Are you getting the same storm system there? Chicago is absolutely getting rocked. The Tribune web site says accumulation is supposed to be 16-24 inches by the time it ends this afternoon. It's hard to tell with the wind blowing everything around but where I am, Lake County, we already seem around the upper end of the estimate. Wind gusts of 50 mph kept me awake most of the night, literally shaking the house. The snow is still coming down sideways. I look out the window down the cul de sac and it is all unplowed. The cars in one neighbor's driveway have snow to the top of the wheels. At the end on the left the trash barrel, about three feet high, is two feet in snow. Nothing has been plowed at all. Every school around is closed today and there are general advisories not to drive.
