Two reasons:
- USU has trouble scheduling good non-conference games. BYU is pretty much a given every year because of history and geography. The Georgetown game was really pretty lucky. USU lost both. Other than those two, the Aggies haven't had a good, quality opponent. Both the Cougars and Hoyas were ranked when they beat the Aggies. If the games were played today, I think the Aggies could beat the Hoyas. The Aggies center was out and Brockeith Paine was not playing to his potential when that game was played. I think BYU would still win today.
- Weak conference. Nevada has been really good in the past, and was USU's only real opponent, but dropped this year. They are the youngest team in the WAC, so the future bodes well, but not for the WAC. Nevada is jumping the Mountain West.
