The expression is a joke intended to show my complete lack of understanding of Turkish. I should have realized it could be mis-interpreted by non-American speakers and I apologize for any offense - certainly none was intended.

FWiW, I work at a company that is largely Vietnamese. We had a lunchtime celebration of the New Year today. One of the senior managers made a speech in Vietnamese (of which I can speak one phrase - "thank you") and I used the same comment when he was done. I got a laugh from both the Anglos and Vietnamese.
