If I'm sitting quietly by the fire of an evening a mouse will very often appear and potter around amongst the logs.
Perfectly harmless and, by some measures, quite good company......
Actually, thinking about it, a couple of months ago there was one that used to hang out in the office a lot. Completely fearless - would sit a couple of feet from my chair and brush it whiskers.....
