Hi,
I *did* get time to try the code. Apart from having to fall back to the VFP8 version of ALINES() (which has no inbuilt option to drop empty lines) it works great. The only problem I see now is that in order to check whether a user has Internet access we first need to check whether they have access to windows scripting and local file write permissions :-{

I thought the 'More Effective C#' book was great. I initially just skimmed it from cover to cover and have only *really* read the first couple of sections (on Generics and Multithreading). Plenty of meat and interesting insights. I'll definitely queue up the sequel for when I've finished this one......
