That happens to me from time to time. A reboot generally fixes it.
>Windows 7 64 bits reported that several updates from Microsoft were reported and needed to be installed. So, I did. At the same time, most of those updates were also reported from my PC which is running XP Pro. After the updates were done on the Windows 7 64 bits, I rebooted. This was requested. Up until the login, it was OK. I was seeing my background and all seemed to be ok. But, outch, after that, when the desktop appeared, what a mess. Everything was changed. All my icons are gone, the background image was replaced by some Windows image, the toolbar became transparent again, all the tray was a real message, IE reported to be executed for the first time, I lost my home page, all my security settings have been corrupted, all kind of notification are shown, etc.
