The labeling of "conservatives" is just as often inaccurate as the labeling of "white turks" it seems. The extreme conservatives, or those who consider themselves conservatives but also believe this country was founded on religious beliefs but with separation of church and state, do not represent all conservatives. Some conservatives are atheists. Many conservatives are simply conservative because they believe in a smaller government and/OR fewer government controls. Just like socialism (in any of its forms) doesn't represent all liberals.

Personally, I think that because these 'labels' have been thrown around so much to represent views that are not shared by the majority, the majority is quickly turning into those who really don't belong in either camp (conservative or liberal) and many of those have dropped out of both parties and now sit in the no-party status.
