I wanted to show it to a potential customer of mine and so I download and install the windows version of MySQL and restored the database. When I started testing it failed on the update command something about an invalid dateformat. The table has date fields with nothing special as far as I can see and linux version doesn't have a problem with a blank date field. What am I missing here ? Do I have to write additional code to handle blanks ?

Do I have this right that the problem is pure mysql? You restored the mysql from your linux mysql database into a windows mysql database. So why would there be update commands? .... hmm can you post a few lines from the sql that you are running?
