So MS isn't driving the market or the reduction in popularity of VB.NET - it's just people voting with their feet.
But you think MS should support it indefinitely regardless......?
IAC the real improvements in .NET are through additions to the framework. The need for further changes in the core VB.NET (or C#) languages are comparatively trivial....
