Hello all,
This is no doubt a simple thing related to file access and security, but I am unable to create a new database on my new server (Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard). I have a hosted server with a third party company and I am attempting to create a new database. The server has a C drive and a D drive. The D drive is where I want to store all my data.
I can successfully create a database using the C drive, but when I attempt to change the location of the MDF and LDF files to the D drive I get an error stating:
Create failed for Database 'testing'. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo)
CREATE FILE encountered operating system error 5(Access is denied.) while attempting to open or create the physical file 'D:\SQLData\testing.mdf'.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
TIA
Bob
