Not so. I was replying specifically to your comment:

32 bit applications (no data) are actually faster than 64 bit or didn't you know that??

I wrote my response as I did so that it would be clear... Why use VFP as your first choice for speed if there is no data involved? You chose to respond by declaring that VFP is a better choice than PHP for string manipulation. If you meant that as only one example in choosing VFP over PHP, that is fine, but that was not really my question. That might support a case for using VFP over PHP in one scenario only. However, there are other tools better suited for string manipulation (Perl comes to mind for string manipulation and array handling). Switching the discussion to PHP versus VFP is a red herring. Perhaps I misunderstood your earlier statements and what the discussion was about because It seems to me that you may be changing the discussion in order to suit your purposes because you are not thoroughly answering the questions as they are proposed to you -- introducing irrelevant arguments to distract from the questions at hand.

It has become clear to me that this discussion is not one I have time for this week. Perhaps we can visit it at a later time?

>I know you all are scrambling for answers when you start getting into semantics.. You originally asked "where is the benefit to using VFP in comparison to other tools" and I responded with a comparison to PHP (the most popular web tool). I guess you expect me to go down the list of web tools?!

>>>1) Did I miss where this was a discussion limited to PHP versus VFP? Or are you stating that VFP is the fastest for string processing of the tools available?
>>>2) "Multi-threading is multi-threading" I disagree with. However, that is a larger discussion than I have time for this week. That would make a good discussion later on...

>>1.) String processing which should be equivalent or better than PHP. So to sum up: VFP is a big bump up from PHP because it is technically better on windows than PHP and does data far better and should be equal or better as far as things like string processing and built in commands. Plus, again, it's real easy especially if you already know it.

>>2.) Absolutely, multi-threading is multi-threading - multiple simultaneous threads working at the same time. Of course MTA is technically better but, for 95% of web sites you would never see the difference!
>>
>>>1) If there isn't any data involved, then where is the benefit to using VFP in comparison to other tools ?
