Yes, it means arguing against the opponent as opposed to against the opponent's argument - and it did seem that is what you were doing with Viv, who rather has a reputation of keeping personal attacks out of technical discussions.
So what is RS's bias? Is VFP his first choice for current web development? If not, why not? Is it because he lacks your knowledge or technical skills with VFP? Or because he just does not understand the arguments you present?
I have never heard anyone defend VFP as a web tool to the extreme you have and since AFAIK Rick was the most successful in getting VFP to work for web development I just wondered if he has the same passion for using VFP today on the web that you do

>Too bad Rick Strahl doesn't hang out here much anymore. He's done a little web development - even used VFP a bit and knows something about it. I wonder if it is the first tool he reaches for when doing web and why or why not. Would be interesting to hear from him on the subject ( though I am not sure he could match Mike's experience and technical expertise.)

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy
Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.
-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin
