>Viv was either not talking about technical issues or the ones I tried to explain were not getting through even though they are proven. I will not go further on RS because I'm sure if I do we'll be here all night... I'll leave that at that

>>>So what is RS's bias? Is VFP his first choice for current web development? If not, why not? Is it because he lacks your knowledge or technical >>skills with VFP? Or because he just does not understand the arguments you present?

So I take it from your answer than Rick no longer uses VFP for web work, and you feel his reasons for abandoning VFP for this kind of work are ill-founded, and I sense from your reply to Kevin about "questioning the master" that you believe you know more about this subject than he ( or, presumably, any one else ) does. I also thought you mentioned using WW so there is an interesting possibility of some kind of apostasy.

Just trying to establish your position in the terrain here as until fairly recently I was not aware of you, though in fairness there is no reason I should be in that web is not my focus and I no longer use VFP. I did google you and your company but must have done it wrong as I didn't find much helpful there.

I don't have strong opinions about other people's technical choices (unless they impact my income) or much care about the ego contests that seem so important to some slices of the geekosphere, but I am fascinated by how people choose to present themselves on-line and this thread has been particularly entertaining.

Once you described yourself as "Terry Thurber with an edge", god help me I just couldn't look away ...

Charles Hankey

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
