Great wording "volatility". Especially when you work in the finance/money field...
Same options here. I have paid a year's time working with python on the server side (brilliant) at the turn of the century. What has temporarily held me back within the VFP arena is its plain simple UI development. Python choices have evolved on the positive side. Both on the wx and qt front, but of course, UI dev. remains the week point for python.
In the end the way the language is developping is brilliant. You could move from 1.x to 2.x in a very comfortable way. 3.x is even more of a joy. It was just "predictable improvements" à la VFP during the good years...
By the way, as a VFP-er I feel that python is my native language. Ruby is not. But of course I am no native perlist.
