>In most cases (the major carriers), you can talk (even when in other countries overseas), but in some areas it's roaming (using other carriers cell phone towers). For use overseas, It depends on the phone/carrier is CDMA, GSM, tri-band, quad-band, etc. I think T-Mobile and AT&T have the most versatile ones (working here in the U.S. and in Europe). That may have changed though. Metin, as for coverage (service in all areas), this country is huge (roughly 9,629,090 km) and there still are not cell phone towers everywhere so there are still places without service or a very weak signal (rural areas). There are pretty much cell phone towers along or near most highways and roads in rural areas across the country, but if you venture out into the rural areas away from the primary roads and towns a few miles, you might lose the signal. Canada might be a better comparison for cell phone coverage...although I'm sure there must be spots in Turkey without cell phone coverage as well due to the topography...
Our biggest provider Turkcell (My old provider) coverage all over the Turkey (included mountains...). Vodafone not good like Turkcell, but good at Istanbul. That's enough for me.
