So, you trust Google, who has all but admitted that they data mine personal information. Have admitted that they don't really have lots of controls on their phone app vendors to stop them from doing the same thing? Are pushing "Net Neutrality" in the US, but when you dig into the details, it really boosts Google and their partner Verizon at the expense of other companies? Just after WP7 was released, I read a review of the Apple vs Google vs MS app stores and rules. Google is wide open, wild, wild west. Almost no controls. Vendors can pretty much do what they want. Apple is at the other end of the spectrum. Total control over everything and now they want 30% of every sale. Microsoft is someplace in the middle.

I've played a bit with LightSwitch. It's VERY powerful, but still has a way to go. Remember that it's only in Beta 1. It's primary target audience is the same as Access. IMO, Lightswitch has the right idea. It needs some polish and a few more capabilities.

MS has shut down alot of their consulting services offices. I know several people who got laid off when it happened. Your experience in Montreal may be different.

>Haha I was sure I'd get an MVP reacting to my reply :-)

>I was just teasing. I don't care how MS markets their phone.

>One of the reasons why I don't want a phone from MS is that I'm not sure if I can really trust them anymore. Open Source really seems like the way to go. I don't want to be tied more and more to MS. I can still make a living with VFP. In the meantime I look at .net and hope that eventually they'll get it.

>There's a very interesting product called WinDev. I saw a demonstration a while back and I was very impressed. 4th generation development. It's like MS never heard about 4th generation development.

>Buuuut recently I saw a demo of Light Switch and it's so lame as it is right now.

>One of the things that really get to me is that not only do they make development tools but they are my direct competitors as consultants. Let's do some role playing. Let's pretend I'm MS. Here's my way of thinking. I'll compete with my developers customers by doing consulting. I'll tell them and pretend that they have all the best tools in their hands to do the best applications but in fact I will have all the tools to do fast development while they still have to figure out how to do even basic stuff. And to make things even funnier I'll release new versions of everything and/or new tools so fast they won't even be able to really know what's happening. from time to time we'll tell them that something is obsolete so they'll practically be in rewrite mode perpetually. End of role playing.

>I'm sure that if I thought about that approach someone withing MS also thought about it.
