I think JavaScript is there for one good reason, and the reason is not swearing at the language. I use a lot of freebie plugins for JS, and guess what - I find many good guys leave nasty language in the code. And as a rule, it's not "stupid $%&@ js!", it's almost always IE they rant against. Recently I found explicit "Screw IE, I'm not fixing this, got more important things to do - get a decent browser instead". Literally every plugin has something special "in case of IE" - even special stylesheet versions (didn't really look into them to see whether there are nasty comments).
