By coincidence I've been having the same sort of problem this week:
Supplying invoices to a national company who are using one of the 'big five' banks as a clearing agent.
Most of my current EDI stuff uses either good old EDIFact or XML, but both over AS2.
Amazingly their preference if for Invoices to be formatted as CSV files and delivered using HTTPS POST .....
I couldn't believe a major player would use such a flaky, open-to-abuse approach for confidential financial transactions.

The other thing I always find incredible in these situations is that my client goes out of their way to implement EDI at the behest of the buyer but then are expected to pay an annual fee for the priviledge of saving the buyer money...
