Zero as well. Even when there are important clients in the office, business casual is as dressy as it gets.

A lot has changed since I started working. I think you are roughly my age and remember the same thing, It was suit and tie all the time. The software company I started out with did a lot of business with Arthur Andersen, which hadn't even become Andersen Consulting yet. (We had the software, they had armies of androids). They were the uber dressed for success company. Men still had to wear coat and tie even if they were in their offices by themselves. It had only recently changed that they didn't have to wear hats to work. Many of them started renting lockers at the train station to store hats for the daily charade. Those guys became partners and the hat rule went away.

I still have expensive suits in my closet that haven't been worn in years. From Bigsby and Kruthers, the power dressers of Chicago's business elite at the time. Never spent $40 for a shirt? Come on in! I thought I had made it when I started buying my clothes at Bigsby and Kruthers.
