If it's not too late, I would suggest using reading Doug Hennig's blog about using SQLXMLBulkLoad at http://doughennig.blogspot.com/2006/07/sqlxmlbulkload-rocks.html

This approach has worked very well for me lately. I moved more than 600 MB of data to a local SQL Server in less than 10 minutes.
