What's more appropriate is for states to create their own laws to protect funerals from demonstrations. There needs to be a buffer zone. I definitely agree. The problem is that the Supreme Court doesn't exactly have a stellar record on defending property rights. The cases involving eminent domain concern me far more than whether some whacko religious monsters have had their free speech rights violated.
I am certainly in favor of free speech, but feel equally strong in views on protecting and defending the concept of private property - our government is not.
I am sick and tired of people (not referring to you) who get almost apoplectic when the mere mention of silencing Westboro comes up...yet have absolutely zero problem when the government infringes in other equally important areas....as if speech were absolute but everything else is up for grabs and according to "public interest".
