I do wonder if in reality these functions implement LoseTrackOfMenu() or ForgetWeEverHadAMenu() ...
on the topic of destruction of physical hardware via software... it was indeed possible to do if you got the timing right. I know of a few people who discovered it was indeed possible (they burned out a few CRTs) -- all that was needed was to toggle video signal at the wrong time, resulting in a power spike being sent to monitor (these folks were trying to write screen blanking software -- there was a warning about this in the IBM-PC Technical Manual -- of course that didn't help them because they didn't have access to it...)
