>Hey Charles, I read something interesting today. Apparently Ridley Scott is producing a mini-series based on "The Man in the High Castle". And even better, Michel Gondry (director) is planning to make a movie of UBIK (now that, I gotta see).

I get excited about anything Ridley Scott is going to do, and this sound particularly good.

I confess I actually had to google the philip k dick site to remember Ubik - that was a looong time ago ( and I think I was reading in pretty much a continuous altered state ) I admire any efforts to film something like that, but am always skeptical that it can be done. I think of abominations like Vanilla Sky ( I liked Abre los Ojos a little better but maybe that's just because I like Madrid better than New York and pretty much anyone more than Tom Cruise )

I'm holding my breath thinking about how HBO is going to handle Game of Thrones - albeit the story line is a lot easier to screenplay. I guess Martin was pretty heavily involved, so that's a plus ( and probably accounts for a lot of the delay on Dances with Dragons. )

Charles Hankey

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
