I remember having read in some FP2.x manual (maybe as far as 2.0, while they still had the structure of foxuser explained) that the checksum is taken from sys(2007, subs(data,2)) or something like that - the first two bytes of the data memo field seem to keep its length. You better try to compare the values you're getting with actual values.
