Isn't it funny how backups are highly undesirable for toilets and sinks, but a really good (if not essential) thing for computers?

Similarly strange is even for a non-computer literate person, the term "dumping core" sounds bad. Occasionally have been ased if I was a proctologist because I'd mentioned something about examining core dumps to diagnose a problem...
