Or, if you listen to government spokesmen, the helicopter crews probably were due for some R&R, and since there is nothing bad happening they can take time off.

Watching CNN this morning they (Anderson Cooper and Sanjay Gupta) were saying radiation in Tokyo was 20 times normal according to equipment they were wearing. That probably won't cause immediate effects, but if it continues (and I'd bet it does) I wonder how many 3 eyed Japanese kids will be born over the next few decades.
