IMHO I disagree. The reason the dButton contains the code is because all the GUI frameworks contain different event models. I do agree that we could have more abstraction but it does little to move the code from the wxPtyhon framework. In theory if you would port QT over - a complete replacement of dButton would be required. Because of the different events model (SIGNALS and SLOTS) the required code would be still be in the dButton code. Again more abstraction could be done but in the end the code would only apply at the QT level.

BTW good discussion. I think you are the first person I can recall that has pointed out any real issue concerning Dabo from the VFP world. I for one think it is very silly for the VFP world not to consider python as a direct replacement for VFP desktops apps. But I also see the use of the browser based world being on the horizon. That said I also see the browser world has one of the worse programming environments to date. Having to use HTML, CSS, Javascript and some other tools just to display a textbox is just nuts. And HTML 5 is not much better. I also see at sometime in the future there will be one language to replace all of it - maybe the terrible language of Javascript.
