I have to make my app support varchar(MAX) type and therefore have to stay with SQL 2000 ODBC. Therefore, I need to make sure not to use DATE type in the SQL 2008. Just wanted to clarify.

Dimitry this works in many places with 2005 sql in my environment and has for years and works for Naomi as well. I am not so sure you have to follow the this path. Hold on I suspect this will all flesh out with SQL 2005 as the db server and varchar()
