They are two different things, although conceptually similar. MEF (pronounced meff) is a specific protocol for application discovery of relevant components. Unity is more of an overall MVVM controller.

The guy you should really reach out to is Damon Payne. He spoke on MVVM at a Microsoft event I attended on Saturday and did a presentation on MEF at a.NET user group meeting last summer, so he is flying way above my level of knowledge. He put his website address up on the screen at the end so he won't mind being contacted. He's an up-and-comer IMO.
