Iraq was a threat to the mideast and possibly farther.

Libya has been fairly benign for many years.

At least the US is only involved in in a support role.

Support using fighters, cruise missiles, etc.

*IF* this actually succeeds in getting rid of Khadaffi (since that isn't the stated goal but that is specifically what is the expected result), then we'll have 'support troops' on the ground to try to keep the peace loving 'rebels' from exterminating each other a la Iraq.
