The impressive part of that ASUS is the 1900-1080 res. It isn't as big a deal for me (nor is battery life ) as I do almost all my work at my desk where I there are 2 24" monitors to jack in to, but I love the idea of that kind of res on a laptop. I'm also not a fan of numeric keypads on laptop keyboards as it feels funny (though I'm sure I'd adjust ) to be off center with the screen while typing.

Anyway, the Lenovo is ordered, so I'll post results.

>I've been looking around for a new laptop and am currently considering an Asus http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220921. Specs are great. Price is great. Reliability of Asus is qiute a bit better than Lenovo http://www.squaretrade.com/htm/pdf/SquareTrade_laptop_reliability_1109.pdf

>>Last notebook I bought was a Dell XPS m1210. ( if anybody knows how to get a driver that works for the nVidia Geforce 7400 with Win 7 I'm all ears )
>>
>>Decided it was time to either upgrade my desktop (quadcore 4gb ) or get a new laptop.
>>
>>Settled on a Lenovo Ideapad y560 with an 1.73 i7, 7200rpm 500gb hd, 6gb ram, 1gb ATI Radeon video. 15.6 WXGA LED screen.

>>Looks like fun.
>>
>>I always liked Thinkpads and I am burnt out on what Dell has become from the days when I wouldn't buy anything else.

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
