I have had many different brands of notebooks over the years but settled on Thinkpads 3 machines ago. Great keyboard and excellent reliability. Currently using 2.5 year old T500 that hasn't missed a beat. All my development work is done on this machine with a second monitor often plugged in to give extra desktop space. Don't ever bother with an external keyboard and unless I am developing screens or report layouts all day I don't bother with an external mouse. I never use the track-pad just the trackpoint in the middle of the keyboard. The other feature I find really useful is the light built into the top of the screen.

I can't comment on other Lenovo models as I have only owned the T series.

Would buy another one without any hestitation,
