I have not been following this thread, but, the check box should show up if sparse = .f.

I tried it and if I change the backcolor it does not change the backcolor for a disabled checkbox, it only looks kind of strange. I also tried it with the DisabledBackcolor, but the result is the same. I think playing with backcolor property in a grid often gives undesired results.
