VFP makes an excellent database server for a web server. Specially all the speed improvement made in the string manipulation commands in VFP 6.0 makes it much more suitable for that task. VFP shines in speed when using native tables, and speedwise, if designed correctly, it is as fast if not faster than any other database solution for the price. I developed a few web server sites running on one 200Mhz pentium pro system, which was bothe the database server and the web server and it worked very well.
