I use SysInternals Desktops since I installed Windows 7 (a couple of months ago) before I was using a similar product for XP which I forgot the name, and the reason I use is that I can "categorize" my virtual desktops, as my tasks usually require that I have multiple windows open, so for me it is easier to switch desktops and have the windows there than to look into multiple minimized windows and guess what are they for, for example, now I have.

Desktop 1, developing:
  Monitor 1: IE KVM (connected to a remote computer, where I have VFP)
                  IE (testing our wc apps)
                  SQL Server Management Studio
  Monitor 2: VFP dev
                  Firefox (regular browsing)
                  RDP the same computer as the KVM, switch between one and the other for developing with the KVM and it's freaking double mouse is a PITA,
                  and RDP kills the telephony card for the application, so I write code with RDP, and test it with KVM
  either monitor can also have extra programs running, for example now I have snag it, outlook, calculator, a server monitor
Desktop 2, troubleshooting one system we monitor:
  Monitor 1: Toad for Oracle
                   IE/Firefox running a monitor program we have, usually two windows and several tabs
                   SSMS
  Monitor 2: RDP to a computer in different network with HP-Open View with several screen of it's own

This makes me easy to switch between tasks, specially when sometimes I have more tasks so I even use Desktop 3 and 4
