Thanks for the reply. I agree with you on theory vs. reality and how practical Access/Assign are. Heck, I'm wondering how I ever lived without them at this point.

I know that basic VFP OOP has been fleshed out very well in a number of books and articles and there has been some articles with practical applications of design patterns. When I go back to the basics, e.g., the seminal works on OOP and reuse and objectories and n-tier I wonder if there couldn't be more exploration of practical VFP application of these writings.

For example, we've beat mediator patterns into the ground....but that's just one of dozens of other recognized patterns.
