>They look at you blankly? Wow. I go to the local Starbucks a few times a week - sometimes I get just a cup of black coffee and other times I get a Caramel Macchiato, and they've never looked at me strangely. (Then again, I'm a regular there, and the people who work there always know I order one or the other)

I say "Cup of coffee please ?"
they reply "Americano ?"
I then look blank. I now know what an Americano is but I (peversely I admit) refuse to let on. Also none of these chains can make a decent cup of tea. Boiling water and a useless little teabag don't do it.
