I really to use http://www.aspose.com/categories/.net-components/aspose.total-for-.net/default.aspx components when I have to manipulate Office files (without having to install Office).

You can also go the OpenXML way. check http://www.emoreau.com/Entries/Articles/2011/03/Using-OpenXML-to-fill-a-Word-document-from-a-Net-application.aspx for an example using a Word Template.
