>>>Yes, but I didn't really post any contact information and don't really want to, because this isn't a job that *I'm* advertising and I don't really know anything about the guy that I received the email from who's looking; I just told him I'd ask around. So, I simply asked people here to PM or email me (and I got one phone call). If I posted it to the news section, I'd need to include more contact info (either mine or the other guy's) for those seeing it via your Widget, and I'd prefer not to have that visibility. But thanks for the suggestion/reminder!

>>My mood must be on the upswing because this makes me smile. You are one of the best members here and Michel puts in the time to run and administer this site. I am among the guilty in underappreciating him. This is the community center now that CompuServe is dead. Again using myself as an example, a lot of us take it for granted. Think about there being no UT. My membership is lapsed at the moment because I am out of work and watching every nickel, but it will be among the first bills paid. And I hope everyone who comes here regularly without paying gives it some thought.

Believe me, I am looking high and low. But I hesitate to go after something I am not qualified for. I have been sending out some .NET job applications and so far the silence has been deafening, presumably because I have no work experience. My thinking is if I can put together a non-trivial demo app it might compensate, but it is still in the fledgling stage. Mainly because I keep stopping to study more, watch training videos, etc. Yeah, I know -- get coding! At least for me that's been the only way to really learn a new language. You don't learn C# (for example) by reading a book any more than you learn English by reading the dictionary.

Let me run this by you. I am thinking of a WinForms or WPF app using the Northwind database and EF 4.0. I sense ASP.NET MVC is more in demand now but my knowledge is minimal and a desktop app is much more in my comfort zone. Likewise, I know WPF is more in demand than WinForms but it still seems pretty strange/uncomfortable to me. My sense of graphic design is not horrible for a programmer IMO but fancy graphics controls, I dunno. I want to strike a balance between being up to date with the latest and greatest and getting something built before the decade ends. Thoughts?
