To prevent seizure of context for straw-man purposes:

With Android followed by Apple in control of the mobile arena that most market experts now agree is the future for front ends, selecting a MS tool for new development today seems more like a HABIT than a response to the market. Some might consider it smart to STAY PRODUCTIVE in whatever tool is currently in use, staying in maintenance mode as long as possible until the market sorts itself out. You quoted the word "moron": who is the "moron" if they volunteer for the expense and effort of new development in 2011 if it turns out that their important market segments are indeed accelerating in a different direction? All the nastiness leveled at VFP people over the years applies equally to the moron in this case. Of course some people have little choice, but IMHO people who have been able to stay put whether in VFP or typed datasets or whatever, may have quite a lot to be pleased about- not least that when they eventually make a move to one of the new products rapidly converging on the specific points that matter, perhaps they'll feel more energized than people who have rewritten constantly for a decade only to find themselves no further ahead than the luddites they used to taunt.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
-- Shakespeare: Coriolanus, Act 1, scene 1
