Maybe the Motorola Atrix will get traction: it combines minimal file space, basic CPU and communicates with larger screens.
Newer phones and pads sport a HDMI interface: couple that with a BT keyboard if you want to edit at one of the few place you often go. Have cloud as backup...

Better than my carrying a 2.5'HD to all the places I have a PC standing - I can add brain farts in a cafe right in, albeit a bit more fumbling with the keys. Current Smartcard size of 32 GB should be enough for personal stuff.
