No need to give me the details Mike. I'm following the playoffs even though the Maple Leafs aren't in it. I'm actually hoping Chicago beats the Canucks. Vancouver is just doing what Detroit used to do and I don't like them either :)

>Hockey is still alive here in Chicago, which you couldn't have gotten many takers for a week ago. After losing three close games to Vancouver and being left for dead, the Blackhawks have zambonied the Canucks twice to cut the deficit to 3-2. Game 6 is here tonight. This season has been a challenge almost from the moment they brought the Stanley Cup home for the first time in 49 years last June. Due to the salary cap they had to let a number of key players go to other teams and could not come to terms with Antti Niemi, whose stellar goalkeeping was enormous for them. They have also played through significant injuries this season. In the end they wound up in a dogfight for the lower half of the western conference playoff bracket and backed into the #8 seed only when Dallas lost the last game, which would have put the Stars and not the Blackhawks into the playoffs.

>That won them a date with Vancouver, which had the league's best record this season. The first three games were all close losses -- 2-0, 4-3, 3-2. Of course there is a truism in sports that only one stat really matters, and the Hawks were down 0-3 in that one. Then someone must have passed a note to Roberto Luongo, who is known for spectacular saves, leading Canada to an Olympic goal medal, and flameouts in the playoffs. "Yo, Roberto, it's the playoffs." The Hawks have stormed back to win games 4 and 5 by scores of 7-2 and 5-0. Luongo was pulled from both games, doing the skate of shame back to the bench in the third period of game 4 and the second period of game 5. (His replacement in the last game promptly let in the 5th goal, barely 20 minutes in). So tonight it's on home ice to tie the series. If the Hawks win it will be back to Vancouver for game 7 and you will have to question Vancouver's emotional state.

>Win or lose, you've got to love that Stanley Cup. IMO it's among the greatest events in sports.
