With the help of many on this site I am re-writing my data entry form framework which will now use a cursor in the navigation grid rather than a copy of the main data table.

Regarding the navigation grid, I want to automate the grid creation process using data stored in a form property. The developer simply fills in the form property with CSV of the fields from the main table he desires to be in the navigation grid and a form method then parses and creates the cursor and indices then populates the grid properties accordingly.

2 questions come to mind my little mind. How can I harvest from the table their field “captions” to use in the nav. grid headers and is there a way to calculate the column widths programmatically based on the field with and font used? I didn't see that capability in the aFields() function.
