I think, that for now, there is enough going on in the middle east. I would be more inclined to watch and let them settle their differences without intervention. The short form of that is to [wait until you are asked / invited] to help and at that point, you may make the choice to step in, or not. (But, Obama's confidence is likely up a few notches now :-D so . . . . you may be right and he may be wrong to make a move)
