>>IMO that's just silly. I disagree with Obama on a lot of things but I don't have any kind of passionate reaction against him.

No, I think he is a smart, pragmatic opportunist ...who is in over his head on these matters.

In this case he was smart enough to know he needed to take the advice of people who did know. I give him credit for apparently doing nothing to interfere.

I think a lot of policies he advocated while running to placate the Left were abandoned once he had to deal with reality and I credit him for recognizing that.

Now we'll see how well he handles increased chatter from the Left that we should declare victory in the "so-called War on Terror" and go home, and to what degree he panders on the campaign trail ( which is every minute between now and Nov 2012 )

But allowing Clapper to remain is inexcusable. Somebody apparently has reined in Holder and I give credit to whomever that is.

I think on the whole he was better in this case deciding which voice to listen to than Carter was in similar circumstances or than Bush was in listening to Rumsfeld ( and Cheney's support of Rumsfeld )

Charles Hankey

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
