>I have an interesting question, well maybe not. But here goes anyhow. Which file structure is better Visual FoxPro 5.0, 3.0 or Access ( Any Version ). I would appreciate any input. One of the companies I am doing work for is considering using access, because they say - Foxpro files get damaged too easily.

Big mistake to go with Access. Corruption of DBFs occurs for very specific reasons:

- System crash
- Someone turned off their PC without exiting the application
- Bad network card
- There are others, but I've found these to be the most common.

As for Access, it is just as likely to crash as VFP. However, recovery of a VFP table is failry simple. Recovery of an Access table is next to impossible because of the way it stores data, indexes, screens, reports....everything in one table. Also, Access sucks when it comes to handling large amounts of data. It was never designed for that. Fox is extremely good at huge databases.
