BTW, is it your real name?

Messages with numbers mean number of new messages since last refresh. You only need to click on this button once to see new messages. The next button will be number of your unread replies. Last button is number of Private messages. If you hoover your mouse over the buttons, you should see a tooltip with explanations.

Also, which browser you're using?
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
