Hi Tamar,

? SET("Help") = "ON"
? set("help",1) points to the correct help file; I double checked by wrapping in FILE() and it returns .T. so it should be found by VFP.

I have also downloaded the better one from vfpx and it also does not work.

Another techie suggested loading vfp9 on a Win7 32 bit machine and see if that is any better as I am trying to load it on Win7 64 bit. It would also tell me if the CD I re-created is any good or not. If I knew what files the help system used, I could possbily try dragging them across from my old, good machine to the new one in case the ones on the CD are still corrupt.

When I re-created the CD, I dragged across from my original install CD all the directories that did not *seem* to have errors. And then since there was a few directories that were unreadable on the CD, I found these on my old PC and added them to the new install disk. This seemed to run without read errors but it's possible that something else is still messed up.

Thanks,
Albert
