Some may say that the registry should be used for this type of information, and maybe in Michelle's case that might be a better solution. However, I'm a bit gun-shy when it comes to the registry. I had a 95 machine get its registry corrupted and it took me two days to straighten every thing out. Therefore, when it comes to dynamic data, I tend to use ini files.

As a side note, I came across some information in the Win32 SDK recently. If I recall correctly, there's some information that Windows itself uses that must be stored in Win.ini. I think it had to do with embedded fonts. At any rate, the ini file functionality will be and is available through at least Win 95/NT 5.0. Since NT 6.0 (or whatever it's going to be called) which will replace both 98 and NT 5.0 is still far over the horizon (NT 5.0 is still in beta) I think it's still got some usage in it.
